Day 11 - Monday 27th April - Wedding Day!
We had a relatively leisurely start to the day. It was pretty good weather wise so we relaxed by the pool until about 11.30 when we took turns to get ready. We were both a bit nervous which was weird. Maurice had a bit of angst over his outfit, I worried about the underwear showing - just the usual pre-wedding thoughts!
We were collected by our white stretch limo at 1pm. It took us to Makapu beach and on the way we spotted Whale(s) breaching in the ocean - spectacular. These were late travellers on their way to Alaska - most of the whales have gone by mid April. We thought this was a good luck omen.
We arrived at the location which was beautiful. The beach was both rocky and sandy and the views were gorgeous. The photographer, Jimmy, took various poses of us at the beach - it took an hour...
The Reverend Karen Russ appeared at about 2.30 and we eventully got the nuptials under way. It was very romantic and moving. And then we were married!
The limo took us back to the hotel - there was some champagne to have and also some water - we were in great spirits.
We went straight to the bar in the hotel and offered our champage that we had provided to everyone who was sitting around at the time. There were not that many - they were grateful! And they toasted us.
As we were both starving we had some chicken wings and fries at the bar which went well with the champagne!
After a few glasses, we went upstairs and I changed into more comfortable clothes - Maurice had a snooze. When we went back down, we wandered on to the beach as it was sunset by this time. A really lovely young Aussie couple asked us to take their pic and it turned out they too were newlyweds who had just arrived! They took our pic too. Then we went back to the bar for more champagne which we once again offered around the bar. We met a really lovely fighter pilot guy and his boss and others who were all really chatty and friendly.
We headed for the Yard a little later on and met a guy called Rick who was in some type of marine industry which Maurice knew a bit about. We chatted to him and his friend before heading to Roy's for our wedding meal. It was a really lovely meal - the perfect end to a perfect day.
